The Environmental Express HotBlock provides a convenient way of digesting large numbers of samples. HotBlocks are designed to digest samples in acid for trace metals analysis at a relatively low temperature. The HotBlocks are routinely done in disposable flat-bottomed polypropylene tubes. Polypropylene can only be used for digestions up to 135°C; digestions at higher temperatures can be done in flat-bottomed glass tubes. The HotBlock temperature is limited to 180°C.

All HotBlocks can control the temperature of the block to ±0.5°C and provide a sample uniformity of ±1.5°C. Over-temperature safety cutouts are incorporated to prevent accidental overheating. 

Condensation is simply done by polypropylene watch glasses.

All HotBlocks are supplied with polycarbonate sample racks for easy tube loading and removal.

Environmental Express offers two options for the control of the digestion.

HotBlock System

The introductory level of controller is inbuilt into the digestion block. The LED display indicates temperature. The controller can also be programmed to ramp temperatures for difficult digestions.

Available in 5 configurations:

36 and 54 place systems for SC475 50ml polypropylene digestion tubes

25 and 35 place systems for SC490 100ml polypropylene digestion tubes

96 place system for SC415 15ml polypropylene digestion tubes

HotBlock Pro

The more sophisticated controller offers easier programmability than the HotBlock system using a large touch screen display. The Pro controller can control two digestion blocks simultaneously and displays the status of both blocks clearly at all times.

Up to 15 different programs may be stored in the Pro controller. Different methods can be run simultaneously if two blocks are attached.

35 place system for SC490 100ml polypropylene digestion tubes
