Crude Fibre and Acid Hydrolysis System
ACID HYDROLYSIS followed by Soxhlet for Total Fat Extraction.
For the measurement of total fat in food and feed, fat bound to protein must be liberated.
In order to do this the food or feed sample is boiled with strong Hydrochloric acid in order to digest the protein and to free the bound lipids.
After filtration and drying the fat is then extracted usually using petroleum ether in a Soxhlet apparatus or rapidly in the Gerhardt Soxtherm.
Gerhardt supply a traditional system for boiling the Hydrochloric acid in beakers on a hotplate. The Gerhardt hydrolysis system HY 16 is supplied with a 4 or 6-place hotplate, beakers, condensers, filter funnels and funnel support stand.
Coming soon - Hydrotherm!
The Gerhardt Hydrotherm automates the chemical additions, digestion, washing and filtration of traditional hydrolysis, although the method remains true to the traditional.
Available as a six-place system, HY 6, is the perfect partner for our rapid Soxhlet extraction system, Soxtherm.
Keep checking our Homepage for news of the Hydrotherm Launch. The Hydrotherm will be one of our featured products on the Homepage.
